“Loving Our Own Bones invites readers to claim the power and promise of spiritual dissent, and to nourish their own souls through the revolutionary art of radical self-love.”
Julia Watts Belser, author of “Loving our Own Bones: Disability Wisdom and the Spiritual Subversiveness of Knowing Ourselves Whole” was the Ware Lecturer at our 2024 UU General Assembly, and both her message and her beautiful way of using words and images inspired us to offer this multi-congregation deep dive. The topic of how we understand bodies of all kinds is important for all of us, as a spiritual practice and a path for justice making.
All are welcome to join in the discussion, even if you don’t read the whole book. A plain language piece from the book is acailable here: https://beacon.org/Assets/PDFs/Belser_DisabledNotBroken_PL.pdf
